Types of Grant

Grants

We support staff, patients and the surrounding communities of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.  In line with the charity’s strategic aims, the Grants Programme provides funding and support to projects that strive to achieve great science, excellent patient care and healthier communities.

Established in 2009, the charity has provided grants of over £34 million to more than 500 projects and research studies to help improve services to patients within the Trust. Please see below for an overview of the funding we provide:

Small Grants Fund
We understand that sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference to a patient’s time in hospital, be it a more relaxing waiting area, better equipment, activities to improve wellbeing or better access to information. The Small Grants Fund is looking for bright ideas to support staff in improving the patient experience across the Trust’s five hospitals as we understand a little goes a long way.

Research Fellowships

Funding is available to members of staff with clinical expertise at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to undertake a period of research for one year. Fellowships offer an exciting opportunity for Trust staff to develop their research skills with grant awards of up to £50,000. Candidates are expected to identify an important research question, and develop and deliver a personal programme to achieve their research aims.

Special Purpose Funds

The charity oversees 400 donor-gifted funds, each with a specific purpose to support a particular ward, department, area of research, service or group of patients. The charity team, trustees and designated special fund advisors identify ways to utilise the individual funds to make a real difference to the Trust’s work in line with donors’ wishes. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to provide tailored funding opportunities to a wide range of Trust departments and services.
