Communications Officer

Location: Paddington, London
Hours: 35 hours per week, plus benefits
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000, dependent on experience

Imperial College Healthcare Charity is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has experience of engaging a wide range of audiences through digital and social media, as well as traditional PR and communications. Being able to create and deliver exciting content that supports the charity’s work and strategies is essential.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, this busy role involves both internal and external communications and plays an active part in increasing awareness and engagement with the charity, working closely with the charity’s fundraising, art, volunteering and grants teams. On a day to day basis you may be tweeting about what fundraisers have done through to writing press releases about new art installations and meeting patients and supporters to gather your next news story.

This hands-on role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who gets excited about the power of a good story and the impact good communications can have. As Communications Officer, you’ll be in a privileged position of being involved with many facets of the charity’s work, from supporting the charity’s major £2 million fundraising appeal to helping to create the charity’s impact report.

Communications Assistant

Location: Paddington, London
Hours: 35 hours per week 
Salary: £22,000 - £24,000, dependent on experience, plus benefits

Imperial College Healthcare Charity is looking for an enthusiastic and, ideas driven individual to join its communications team.

This exciting role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in a wide range of communications, from the charity’s growing social media audience, to traditional PR and media, through to internal communications and website content management. Being able to create and deliver exciting content that supports the charity’s work and strategies is essential.

Working alongside the Head of Communications and the Communications Officer, the role involves a mix of internal and external communications and plays an active part in increasing awareness and engagement with the charity.

This hands-on role is a good opportunity for someone who gets excited about what good communications can achieve. The communications assistant will work closely with the charity’s fundraising, art, volunteering and grants teams, meaning no two days will be the same. One day you’ll be recording a video about a fundraising event, and the next you’ll be writing articles aimed at the 10,000 members of hospital staff.

Events and Community Fundraiser

Location: St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington

Reporting to: Events and Community Fundraising Manager
Salary: £26,000 plus benefits
Hours: Full-time - 35 hours per week with some flexible working and unsociable hours around events will be required.
Contract type: Permanent

Imperial College Healthcare Charity is an independent charity raising funds for research and projects that help improve patient healthcare at the five London hospitals of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust: Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea, St Mary's and Western Eye hospitals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Events and Community Fundraiser to work with the Events and Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Fundraising to deliver their events portfolio throughout the year and continue to develop opportunities to promote fundraising with patients across the hospital sites and within the local communities within the hospitals’ catchment areas. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but ambitious charity during a period of focused activity for the fundraising team and the wider charity.

The key responsibilities for the Events and Community Fundraiser include:

  • Provide excellent supporter care to fundraisers taking part in events
  • providing support, guidance and fundraising materials to fundraisers organising their own events
  • Proactively look for opportunities to promote fundraising across our hospital sites and events to the local community, local businesses and schools
  • Work with the Events and Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Fundraising to manage and grow community & events fundraising to bring in significant income and deliver agreed income targets.


You will be enthusiastic, creative and highly organised. You will have good administrative and customer care skills and be able to work across a variety of projects and prioritise your workload effectively, as well as successfully working with other departments within the charity.
