This voluntary internship is an excellent opportunity to gain and develop a range of communications skills, offering a hands-on approach to supporting Imperial College Healthcare Charity's fundraising, volunteering, arts and grants teams.
You'll be contributing to the charity's efforts to increase awareness of its work and impact on patients, both in hospitals and in the community. It is an exciting chance to engage with a wide range of audiences, from supporters, hospital staff to the general public.
This role will enable you to develop your writing and proof-reading skills, learn the fundamentals of writing press releases and develop your sense for a good news story. There'll be opportunities to create engaging content for social media and website use as well as speak to both internal and external audiences about the charity. This role will provide an excellent insight into the communications function within a small health-based charity.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for an individual with good ideas to learn a broad range of communications skills and join a small team of dedicated staff who are determined to make a difference to patient care. The role will be challenging but rewarding, varying from day to day and offers an exciting opportunity as a first step into the communications sector.
Our previous communications volunteers have taken the skills and experience they acquired to go on to work in paid roles at larger charities, including Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Why volunteer at our events:
Our Events Volunteer scheme is a new way to volunteer with Imperial College Healthcare Charity supporting our efforts to raise funds to improve patient care and support staff development at the five hospitals within the NHS Trust.
Join us for our upcoming Walk for Wards event on Sunday 17 July - a sponsored walk (2 and 5 mile circular route options) along the waterways of Paddington and the leafy greens of Regents Park to raise money for our hospitals within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We are looking for Events Volunteers who can help us with our registration desk, give out water and snacks, sign people up and marshal people along the route.
Don’t worry you won’t have to do the whole walk (unless you want to) or get sponsored, we need our Events Volunteers to help us make sure the event runs smoothly for people who are taking part to raise money for us.
