The Art and Wellbeing programme has been running for many years and is one of our most popular group workshops.
Sessions typically take place on the second Saturday of every month at Kindred Studios, a creative hub based in Shepherd's Bush. The workshops are open to any present or past patients of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust hospitals, as well as NHS staff. The sessions are run by our wonderful artist Marenka Gabeler, who shares a particular artist or artwork at the start and then runs a relaxed, creative class in response.
Previous workshops rotated between St Mary’s, Charing Cross and Hammersmith hospitals. At the start of each session, Marenka guided participants to a piece of artwork from our collection which then inspired the session. This rotation not only enabled participants from different local areas to come and join in but also meant our participants got to explore our art collection across all three sites!
"It's a great opportunity to learn new things from Marenka & also to connect with the other attendees, I have learnt a lot through the sessions I have attended & find it good for my wellbeing after a difficult few years of cancer treatment"
