This project hopes to build stronger links between our hospitals and the communities they serve, with an emphasis on groups who might face barriers to accessing healthcare services. Through the project, participants visit our hospital sites to engage with our art collection and form connections with hospital staff teams.

Mosaic Community Trust - 2024
"My favourite thing is doing art, because when you do art, your feelings come out. Sometimes you want to say something, but you can’t say it, and when you draw it comes out automatically. Art is very powerful. I enjoyed every session."
Project participant
Our first project in 2024 was in collaboration with Mosaic Community Trust, an organisation supporting communities in Church Street, Westminster. Artist Nisha Duggal supported the organisation's women’s group, exploring how creativity can support wellbeing.
The group's collaborative artwork, Placement, is now on permanent display at St Mary’s Hospital.

Nubian Life Resource Centre - 2025

In 2025, we collaborated with Nubian Life Resource Centre, a day centre for elders from African, Caribbean, and Asian backgrounds in Hammersmith and Fulham.
Artist Birungi Kawooya facilitated weekly creative workshops at the centre, creating a final artwork titled We All Need to Take Care of Each Other, which is on permanent display at Charing Cross Hospital.

Pursuing Independent Paths - 2026
Our Community Group in Residence for 2026 is Pursuing Independent Paths (PiP), an organisation supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism near Hammersmith Hospital.
We ran sessions for students alongside two art facilitators with learning disabilities and autism. The project culminated in a permanent artwork at Hammersmith Hospital.
