We work closely with Art and Music Psychotherapists within our children’s services, offering patients and families clinical art therapy. Unlike our other arts engagement projects, art therapy provides a clinical service which can help young people express and deal with difficult feelings, using methods to enable non-verbal communication.
We currently have an Art Psychotherapist based in paediatrics for three days a week, and a Music Therapist based in paediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care for two days a week.
Patients and staff have said:
"It was so beautiful, that experience will stay with me for the rest of my life."
"This is an amazing add-on to our services and has been particularly helpful for our patients with neurodevelopment issues."
"Such a calming feeling and just singing together has helped us feel and interact with him in a normal way which we haven't felt able to yet."
“Art Therapy is an essential part of our emotional first aid.”
