Imperial Health Charity is thrilled to share a new display in the Wembley Community Diagnostic Centre, featuring unique selection of artworks by London-based artist Sara Choudhrey.

Imperial Health Charity worked together with staff to select an artist for this commission who could think about the location and particular needs of this space, and produce a harmonious, sensitive collection of artworks to enhance the environment.

Choudhrey was invited to visit the centre and spoke with staff to understand their ambitions for the unit.  There was a desire to create a sense of calm and collective care, whilst also recognising the area’s diverse community.  The resulting body of work combines existing works from her portfolio and bespoke artworks in response to the space.

Sara Choudhrey is a west London based artist and researcher, who uses an investigative process to explore themes of space, place, heritage and belonging through visual and material culture and surface design.  Her use of pattern and repeat motifs often found in Islamic architecture, has been employed to create moments of quiet contemplation and pause throughout the centre.

Choudhrey’s practice involves visual analysis in a variety of media, referencing geometry, natural forms, artefacts and architecture around the world. She is interested in human engagement with spaces, natural and man-made, considering their impact on each other through and beyond a specific time and place.
