What is The Ovarian Care Fund?
The Ovarian Care Fund is raising money to conduct research into advanced ovarian cancer in women. The research is being led by Professor Christina Fotopoulou, one of the country’s leading experts in ovarian cancer, and her team at Imperial College in west London.
We will support ground-breaking new research into this life-threatening condition by funding highly-skilled laboratory staff and essential equipment.
With your help, we can make significant steps in the fight against this deadly disease.
Where will the money go?
The money we raise will be spent in three key areas:
- Skilled staff
We will fund an additional Research Assistant post to help Professor Fotopoulou and her team carry out vital lab work.
- Research equipment
We will fund essential equipment required for the research programme, including tools used to understand the way the disease spreads and test its response to drug treatments.
- Laboratory materials
We will fund the purchase of vital materials used in the lab to detect different proteins in cancer tissues and grow cancer cells to investigate their properties and response to drugs.
