Celebrating our wonderful volunteers on Volunteers’ Week
It’s Volunteers’ Week, a UK-wide initiative dedicated to recognising volunteers and thanking them for all that they do.

Volunteers support our hospitals through a range of tasks, including delivering patient meals, therapy dog visits, helping with wayfinding, and so much more.

This year, we sent each of our volunteers bespoke thank you cards with information on how our volunteering programme has supported our hospitals over the last year. Between April 2025 and March 2026, more than 1,100 volunteers donated more than 40,000 hours of their time, completing over 14,000 shifts to support patients over 207,000 times.DSC00005.JPG

Our volunteering team also visited wards across the Trust to deliver thank you cards to staff for supporting our volunteers and making them feel valued and welcome.

Finally, we held our thank you event, which is our chance to recognise the difference volunteers make to our patients, staff and visitors. We celebrated volunteers by giving out length of service and make a difference awards, recognising the incredible impact they have in supporting our hospitals.

Our hospitals wouldn’t be the same without you!
