Funding boost set to provide extra support for patients waiting for treatment
04 October 2023

We’re awarding up to £250,000 through our Compassionate Communities programme to help local groups expand the vital health and wellbeing support they provide for people in north west London.
The grants will enable these small organisations to offer extra help for people who may be waiting to access health services.
Across north west London, there are currently 260,000 people who are waiting for hospital treatment - and we know that being on a waiting list for a significant period of time can be difficult for patients and present challenges around managing their health.
That’s why we’re working together with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to make sure this extra funding helps patients look after their health and wellbeing while they’re waiting for treatment.
We’re focusing our funding in two key areas:
· providing ongoing physical and mental health support, known as 'prehabilitation'
· bringing people together to provide valuable advice through peer support groups.
This is the second round of funding we’ve awarded to support the vital work of healthcare organisations in our local communities. In 2021 we granted £360,000 to help people who were most affected by the hidden impacts of Covid-19.
Community organisations that work in one of the eight boroughs covering north west London can now apply for a grant of up to £50,000 to help them deliver a project over one to two years.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday 1 November.
