How artist and former patient Shachi is supporting patients at Charing Cross Hospital
Artist and former patient Shachi has been spending time supporting patients on the neuro-rehab ward at Charing Cross Hospital.

We recently spoke to Shachi, a previous patient on neuro-rehab, who now visits the ward to offer creative engagements and activities that support wellbeing.

Shachi said:

"I wanted to give it back to the hospital after spending time (at Charing Cross) as a patient.

"I reached out to Imperial Health Charity because I'm an artist, and they gave me the opportunity to host art sessions on the bedside for patients. I’ve now been conducting sessions for 5 months and I'm really grateful for this."

Shachi offers bespoke, one-to-one sessions with patients, tailoring the activities to each individual patient. Her experience as a neuro-rehab patient was instrumental in shaping her sessions and allowed her to connect with the participants on a personal level.

Hannah, a staff member on the neuro-rehab ward, said:

"Engaging in a creative activity outside of therapy sessions can be a really positive experience for our patients!

"Shachi’s sessions can help massively with their emotional well-being and their mental health, just by giving them something to do other than all the hard work we put them through daily."

Thank you to Shachi for all the incredible work that you do!
