Imperial Health Charity unveils ambitious new strategy for 2026–2031
Imperial Health Charity has today published its new five-year strategy, setting out plans to invest more where it matters most for patients, NHS staff and communities.

The strategy outlines how the charity will focus its efforts between 2026 and 2031 to deliver greater impact across its partner hospitals and beyond. With a clear emphasis on improving patient care, supporting community health, and accelerating research and innovation, the plan aims to help build a stronger and more responsive NHS.

At the heart of the strategy is a commitment to concentrate resources on five priority areas: cancer, children’s health, women’s health, frailty, and NHS staff wellbeing. These ‘frontlines’ will guide how the charity raises and spends funds, as well as how it measures success over the next five years.

Chief Executive Gail Scott-Spicer said: “We are proud to share our strategy for 2026–31 – a plan shaped by our values, our partnerships, and our belief in what great healthcare can achieve when ambition meets action.”

She added: “This strategy is about focus and purpose. We are choosing to concentrate our time, energy, and funding where we know we can make the biggest and most lasting difference.”

The charity will invest £15 million from its reserves over the course of the strategy. This funding will support improvements to hospital environments, new medical technology, community health initiatives, and pioneering research.

Alongside this investment, the charity plans to grow its fundraising and expand its volunteer programmes, helping to ensure long-term sustainability and wider impact.

Chair of Trustees Dr Andreas Raffel welcomed the strategy, highlighting its clear direction and focus. He said: “This strategy is ambitious, but it is also grounded. It is built on a strong understanding of where we add the greatest value and how we can use our resources wisely to deliver meaningful change.”

He added: “By prioritising these four clinical areas, and NHS staff wellbeing, we are making deliberate choices that will sharpen our impact and improve outcomes.”

The strategy also places a strong emphasis on prevention and tackling health inequalities by working more closely with local communities. This includes investing in programmes that support healthier lifestyles, improve access to care, and bring services closer to where people live.

At the same time, the charity will continue to fund innovative research and new technologies, helping to turn medical breakthroughs into real improvements in patient care more quickly.
