Jenny* left a gift in memory of her dad, Dave. She told us:
“As a family, we felt it was essential to express our deep gratitude to the incredible ICU team at St. Mary’s who stood by us during dark times. Words failed us, and we struggled to find a way to show our thanks, desperate to do something to help another family in their time of need. “We chose to support the ICU because they gave us more than care; they gave us comfort, strength, and compassion during the most difficult time of our lives. The way they treated Dave with such dignity and grace was something we'll never forget. Every day we spent there, we marvelled at the profound impact they had on everyone. We saw them celebrate life, support those in distress, offer comfort, and grieve alongside families.
“Fundraising became our way of saying “thank you”—not just for what they did for Dave, but for what they continue to do for others. Knowing that our efforts would help ease another family’s journey gave us immense comfort. By raising funds in my Dave's memory, we found solace in knowing that we were offering comfort to someone else in their darkest hours. Because, though it may feel isolating, you are never truly alone.
