In-Memory Events and Challenges

Take part in something special to honour the memory of someone you love.

Running a race, climbing a mountain, or hosting a tea party – whatever you choose to do, taking part in an event or challenge can be a powerful way to remember someone special and raise funds in their name.

You can join one of our organised events or create your own. Whether it’s something quiet and personal or big and bold, we’ll help you make it happen, and make sure that the money you raise goes towards the hospital or department of your choice.

It’s important to remember that your loved one doesn’t have to have passed recently for you to raise money in their memory. Many of our supporters host or take part in events to mark special anniversaries, such as a loved one’s birthday.

One such supporter is Mike Cawston, who has been fundraising for ten years in memory of his friend Lee Bowers, who sadly passed away from leukaemia in 2015.

His fundraising began in 2016 with a charity football match which raised £8,000, and since then Mike has gone on to raise more than £20,000 to fund improvements to the Dacie Ward at Hammersmith Hospital, where Lee was treated.

Karen Bradley, the lead nurse in clinical haematology at Hammersmith Hospital, said:

“Mike’s kindness has created a lasting impact, empowering us to deliver world-class care, advance scientific discovery, and support each patient’s journey with compassion and excellence.”

If taking part in an event feels like the right way for you to remember your loved one, please get in touch. We can provide you with fundraising materials to make your event a success, as well as any advice you might need to get things started. Together, we can turn your tribute into something that helps hospital patients and NHS staff when they need it most.

We have lots more information about fundraising on our fundraising FAQ.
