Gardens and green spaces at our hospitals

When you picture a hospital, what do you see? Plain white walls? Long empty corridors? To patients and visitors, the hospital environment can often feel strange and unfamiliar – especially at times of stress and anxiety.

Hospital gardens have the power to soothe and calm, creating a warm and welcoming home away from home. Bright, uplifting outdoor areas can change the mood, transforming the hospital experience for patients, visitors and NHS staff.

We’re working in partnership with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to build beautiful gardens and green spaces across our five London hospitals, creating tranquil outdoor areas that help to improve patient care, boost staff wellbeing and support sustainability initiatives.

Support our Summer Appeal and help us grow our next hospital garden

Your support this summer could help us bring to life our next incredible hospital garden. We want to create a stunning new green space for patients, staff and volunteers next to the cardiology department at Hammersmith Hospital. Our vision is to rejuvenate a tired and neglected outdoor area, creating an oasis of calm at the heart of the hospital.

The garden will serve as a welcoming, tranquil space for patients with complex heart conditions as well as a sanctuary for staff to relax and unwind away from the pressures of the hospital wards.

Your donation could go towards installing comfortable seating and secluded rest spots within the garden. Or it could be used to help us create therapeutic landscapes filled with luscious greenery, vibrant flowers and fragrant plants.
