Richard Gray: London Rocks!
Imperial Health Charity is excited to present London Rocks!, an exhibition of photographs by Richard Gray celebrating London’s vibrant music scene. All the images were taken at gigs across the city by Gray, a professional photographer who underwent a life-changing spinal operation at Charing Cross Hospital in 2016.
The photographs feature a variety of musicians and bands such as Ed Harcourt, Royal Blood, Seal, Christine and the Queens and the Prodigy performing in famous and lesser-known venues throughout the city. The images capture the incredible breadth of styles of live music that can be enjoyed across the capital every day, and the wealth of exciting, iconic, often era-defining venues London has to offer.
Richard Gray specialises in events photography and is house photographer at Bush Hall, an independent live music and events venue in Shepherd's Bush. His work has featured in publications including Vogue, NME, the Guardian, The Independent, and he has won a number of awards including the Terry O’Neill mobile award in 2014. Following his surgery, Richard contacted the charity to see if there was a way to work together, and says: “I’m delighted to be working with Imperial Health Charity to launch this exhibition and to be able to give something back to the medical team at Charing Cross who did such a fantastic job with my surgery.”
This is the first time Gray has shown his work in a solo exhibition, which will spend four months at Charing Cross before moving on to Hammersmith and St Mary's Hospitals.
All the framed photographs on display are for sale with prices ranging from £200 to £300. Profits will go towards the arts programme for hospitals of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
