Imperial Health Charity appoints new Chief Executive
02 June 2025

Gail has more than 25 years of experience in the charity and not-for-profit sectors. Currently she is Chief Executive of King’s College Hospital Charity, where she has been since 2018, and previously has been Chief Executive of both the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust and the Carers Trust. She also holds non-executive and trustee roles, as a Non-Executive Director of the Women’s Football Board of the Football Association, a Trustee of the Premier League Charitable Fund, and Co-Chair of NHS Charities Together’s London region.
Gail will take over the role from Ian Lush, who is retiring in July following almost 11 years at the helm of the charity.
Commenting on the appointment, Dr Andreas Raffel, Chair of Trustees at Imperial Health Charity, said: “We are delighted to have been able to appoint Gail as our new Chief Executive. Amid some very stiff competition, Gail stood out as uniquely able to lead our Charity as we develop our new strategy, and steer us towards a new, ambitious era for our work. I know I speak for the Board and the Executive Team when I say how much we are looking forward to working with her.”
On accepting the role, Gail Scott-Spicer said: “I am immensely excited to be stepping into the role of Chief Executive of Imperial Health Charity and leading the staff and volunteers as they continue to deliver excellence across all areas of our work.
“The NHS is facing challenging times, and hospital charities like ours have a vital and growing role to play in supporting the health and wellbeing of staff and patients across the hospital estate. As we move toward a new strategic period, I am confident we have the skills and ambition to help our hospitals do even more, and help everyone in the communities we serve to thrive.”
Gail will come into post in September 2025.
