92% of Trust staff feel supported by charity, survey reveals
10 November 2020
At the height of the first wave, we funded extra counselling sessions, faster WI-FI and provided resources for staff to set up temporary rest areas on the wards.
We also delivered more than 170,000 meals and ran three pop-up shops, entirely free for NHS staff.
Compared to last year’s survey, there was a 29% increase in the proportion of staff agreeing that the charity makes their hospitals a better place to work.
One staff member said: “In the most difficult of times that we all faced in the last few months; Imperial Health Charity stood as a strong backbone in supporting everyone including staff as well patients.”
While another said: “Incredible support from Imperial Healthy Charity, full of energy, smiles and kindness at a time of significant stress.”
During the height of the pandemic, 350 Crisis Response Volunteers helped to provide vital support to patients and NHS staff working on the front line.
From running our staff shops and delivering meals to supporting day-to-day tasks such as advising visitors on hand hygiene and critical health and safety guidance, volunteers provided essential support to our hospitals.
One staff member shared a special thank you to our volunteers: “Thank you purple brigade. You got us through this incredibly dark, scary and challenging time.
You made laughter in the corridor while we waited for the welfare shop, you made our tummy’s full so we could carry on marching and you made all the difference in the world to us working through these exceptional times.”
We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to our three Big Charity Survey 2020 gift card winners - Sally Hards, Joshua Coles and Marian Sliwinska! Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey.
